GoPro Hero 6 vs 7 Black 🎥 Review, Comparison + Test

GoPro Hero 6 Black or GoPro Hero 7 Black? Recently, I bought both of these 4K action cameras and wanted to compare them directly, test out various settings (recording quality, audio, stabilization, color), and share my thoughts in a review.

The new GoPro Hero 7 Black boasts 4K 60 FPS, 12MP photos, brand new options of HyperSmooth stabilization, live streaming, TimeWarp video, Night Lapse Photo, and 8X slow motion.

In comparison, the GoPro Hero 6 Black still has many of the same great features – waterproof to 33ft, voice commands, touch screen display (and a lower price tag) – however stabilization is NOT available at the 4K 60 FPS

Both cameras can use the same accessories, so if you already have one – you don’t need to re-purchase all of this stuff again unless you want duplicates. The images on the GoPro Hero 7 did appear crisper at times with more vibrant color, and the audio on the 7 seemed to have more clarity and volume. Both had decent stabilization, but the 7 appeared to be smoother.

It would be nice if GoPro added in a feature to alert you when the battery is low, as it’s hard to tell if it’s mounted on my hat or chest. On both the 6 and 7, I’ve also experienced some issues with the voice commands randomly recording/stopping at inconvenient times. (Sadly, I have lost out on a few of my catches on camera)

Overall, I have enjoyed using both action cameras for my kayak fishing vlogs and plan to use them to get different views simultaneously.

There are a number of extras I’ve purchased that I’d recommend if you shoot a lot and for longer periods of time:

Samsung 256GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select Memory Card with Adapter

Artman Batteries (3 Pack) and 3-Channel LED USB Charger for GoPro Hero

GoPro 3-Way Grip, Arm, Tripod

GoPro Smart Remote
