Making Swoon Harriet in Silver Metallics and Blues

With QuiltCon quickly approaching, I want to make a new bag to take with me on the trip to Pasadena.

Since I subscribe to Swoon Patterns Vintage Collection, I was able to download the latest bag – Harriet.

It’s described as a mid-sized bag with two side zippers, converting it from a rounded handbag into a tote. How ingenious!

If you can’t tell, I’m a bit obsessed with using Cotton + Steel Sparkle Canvas for bag making. It’s so durable – great for using on bag bottoms and handles – places where the item will receive more wear and tear. (Cotton + Steel – PLEASE don’t ever stop making this one!)

The other fabrics I’m using are Jennifer Sampou’s Shimmer 2 Ocean, Lizzy House Natural History Constellations Silver/Blue, and Drift by Angela Walters in Gemmed Pathway Seas for the accent pieces.

Absolutely loving how these fabrics are meshing together – they look so elegant! (Plus, I used Scotchgard on the fabric yardage before cutting into it to help prevent staining/dirt)

Never mind that there are other projects that I should be working on instead…

QuiltCon is now only a couple weeks away, and I haven’t begun preparing for it at all… Well, I did get the supply lists for the two workshops I signed up for. I guess that counts for something, right?

Oh yeah, and I booked Super Shuttle for transfers between the airport and hotel!

For anyone flying to QuiltCon, I found a handy list of TSA rules – you can definitely check items like scissors, rotary cutters, and pins.

Today I am participating in Work in Progress Wednesday hosted by Freshly Pieced!

See you next time!

– Jennifer
